All of us have experienced crests and troughs in our lives at various stages. Stress and anxiety have become a part of our lives and we all suffer them in different magnitudes. Some people thrive well, and others suffer quietly through obstacles and thoughts. As much we hate the downs in life, they always help us understand and appreciate what an up looks like. After all, like someone said, when you’ve hit the rock bottom, the only way is up.

Then there are some of us who have experienced downs for too long, and are having trouble seeing the ups. If you are one of those, then it is time to shift your narrative, change the perception and take actions that will have help you progress despite of all the setbacks. Enjoying life always starts with shifting our mindset. Seeing things in a new way isn’t easy because our brains are wired to heavily focus on the negatives. One of the most important things is to set yourself reasonable and realistic expectations. When you try too hard to make things right or be happy, would make you miserable. Doing things trying too hard would end up putting into survival mode, which is a terrible way to live. The mental and physical fatigue can distract you from enjoying or appreciating life to the fullest. If you are waiting for others to help you enjoy life or guide you to light, you are in the wrong lane. You can’t just sit around and expect the fullness of life to come to you.

But when you consciously take meaningful actions and cultivate the right mindset, life is consistently enjoyable. You need to continuously pay attention to things that rob you of the joys of life. Figure out the small things you do or have enjoyed in the past and work toward augmenting and setting yourself up for more of those. Lean into the little joys in life when you find them. The simple things are the most extraordinary things that sometimes makes life easy to manage. Don’t think too much about “enjoying” life. The moment you jump to “thinking mode”, and seek things to make your life fulfilling, the fullness of life will become a mirage.

Remember You don’t have to be in the race to enjoy the ride!
